Old Framed Print George & Martha Washington Valley Forge 2
This has been hanging on the wall forever. I planned many times to carefully take it out of the frame and clean it up.
It might be on my to do list this week.
I have some suspicion this artwork will be some kind of Sunday newspaper insert from maybe 1926 Sesquicentennial or perhaps even earlier. This thing is OLD and it is could be brittle.
As it is it appears 100% undamaged except it is wavy from the corrugated cardboard from what I think is part of a box shipping parts for a mineral wool furnace from Ludowici Celadon Chicago.
This cardboard was used as backing perhaps when somebody decided to frame it. It measures about 21 x 13.
Not that the box has anything to do with this but Ludowici goes back before 1910 anyway.
If they made cardboard boxes like this that long ago I don't know.
They are still in business, I think, making terra cotta roofing.

Now it's no Rembrandt, I know, but it has some great American character and I must preserve it while I can.
There are many Valley Forge pictures but I cannot find another of this.
When I open up the back, I am sure to find a clue and will update. Hope this was worth your looking.
