Castile & Leon dinero of Alfonso XI
Castile and Leon were two mediaeval kingdoms in what is now north-central Spain. United in 1230, the kings issued these crude, base-silver pennies, which go by various names: I've seen dinero, blanca or cornado, all describing these coins. This one is of King Alfonso XI, who ruled from 1312 to 1355.

Unusually for mediaeval coins, these dineros show the king in profile, rather than front-facing. The other side shows the badge of Castile, a castle. Unfortunately, mine has a ragged hole at 9 o'clock, and most of the legend is illegible.
