Sabaean drachm, 3rd century BC obverse
The Sabaeans were a tribe of Arabic people living in what is now Yemen. Their coins are copies of the famous "owl" tetradrachms of Athens.

The lightning bolt shape on Athena's cheek is a local innovation: using Sabaean letters to denote which denomination this coin is intended to be. This N-shaped letter indicates this coin is a 1 drachm.

A Sabaean drachm weighed the same as a Persian siglos.
