Alexander III, King of Macedon, was born in Pella in 356 BC and tutored by Aristotle. He was one of the greatest conquerors in world history. Alexander led the Greeks to capture Persia(Iran), Asia Minor(Turkey), Syria, Palestine, Egypt, Mesopotamia, Bactria(Afghanistan) and parts of India. In addition to conquering most of the known world, he founded more than a dozen cities, most notable being Alexandria in Egypt.
On either the 10th or 11th of June 323 BC, Alexander died at the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II in Babylon. Some accounts say he was poisoned. Many modern scholars believe he died of malaria or typhoid.
